Tim Hambleton

Tim’s first play A Law Unto Themselves, based on his experience as a lawyer in a small town, was performed by the Invercargill Repertory Society in 2000, and later by the Methven Theatre Company. His second play Heaven Help Us! premiered in Clyde, Central Otago in 2010 and has gone on to be performed numerous times around New Zealand. Since then he has written several full-length comedies, with Gone To Seed, a particular favourite with audiences, winning Best New New Zealand Full-length Play at the Regional Theatre Awards in 2020, and On The Right Trackwinning Best New New Zealand Full-length Play at the Regional Theatre Awards in 2022.

Tim has also written a number of 10 minute comedies. In 2022 he won the New Zealand Pint Sized Plays Competition in Queenstown with The Camembert. The Reunion, The Police Interview, and Crosswords have all been published in collections of award-winning New Zealand 10 minute plays.

Tim is employed by the New Zealand Police as a prosecutor. Originally from Dunedin he now lives in Christchurch with his wife and two children.
