Geoff Allen is an Auckland-based playwright, producer and teacher. He’s written 25 youth plays and 6 plays for Galatea Theatre, and runs Devonport Drama Youth Theatre. Geoff’s plays have had readings and workshops at Auckland Theatre Company, Circa Theatre and Playmarket.
In 2000 he completed a certificate in writing at Whitireia Polytechnic by day, and worked as a Uruk Hai by night at Helms Deep.
A visit to Vincent and Theo’s graves in Auvers inspired his 2012 play, Mrs Van Gogh, which became one of the NZ Herald’s Plays of 2012.
His most recent work, Sister Anzac, is based on Peter Ree's book The Other Anzacs, as well as his grandfather’s experiences at Gallipoli.
