Justin Eade

Justin Eade is a playwright and screenwriter from Nelson who also writes short stories, radio plays and children's stories. He has been writing full-time since 2008.

Three of his plays, Home Invasion, Tough’s Haulage, and Central Otago Man, have been shortlisted in the Playmarket Adam NZ Play Award.

In 2010 the play Home Invasion won the Auckland Playwright's Collective Full Play Competition and was awarded a workshop and staged reading at the Herald Theatre in Auckland, and in 2011 Tough's Haulage was awarded a workshop and staged reading at the Auckland Town Hall. Central Otago Man was staged at the inaugural Nelson Fringe Festival in 2015, it was also staged at Howick Little Theatre in Auckland in 2016, and the Firestation Theatre Mosgiel in 2017.

In 2016 Justin staged Maungatapu for Nelson City Council’s Heritage Week and in 2017 staged another short play called An Avro to Naumai. In October 2017 Maungatapu received its world premiere at the Nelson Arts Festival and then toured the Top of the South. In December 2017 his play 67 off 52 was staged at Nelson’s Theatre Royal.
