Hannah McKie

Hannah is a playwright with a background in acting and design. New Zealand born, her theatre experience began as a child actor in California. Since then she’s performed in Australia, Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland. Hannah has a BA in Theatre and Film and and graduated with an MA in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters in 2008. Since then, Hannah has focused all her energies into her writing and producing, both her own plays and plays by Page Left.
Hannah has a passion for New Zealand, an obsession with cricket, a love of language, literature, poetry, classic Hollywood and 1950′s Broadway. 
Mackenzie Country, Hannah's first full length play took out the David Carson-Parker Embassy Prize in Scriptwriting, the Dominion Post Scholarship, was read as part of Writers on Mondays in 2008 and was shortlisted to the final four for Write Out Loud Wellington in 2009. Hannah’s play The Avon Lady, made the shortlist for the Adam NZ Play Award and was awarded joint winner of Write Out Loud Wellington in 2010. In 2013 Hannah won Best Play by a Woman Playwright at the Adam NZ Play Award for Mary Scott: Queen of the Backblocks.
