Damien Wilkins is the author of novels, short fiction, and poems. The Miserables won the 1994 New Zealand Book Award for Fiction, and two other novels, Nineteen Widows Under Ash (2000) and The Fainter (2006), have been Runner-Up at the Montana Book Awards. Damien's novel, Max Gate, was published by VUP in 2013, in the same month he received an Arts Foundation Laureate Award. Max Gate was a fiction finalist in the 2014 New Zealand Post Book Awards.
He has had radio plays produced by Radio New Zealand, and he worked as a scriptwriter on the TV series Duggan and Insiders Guide to Happiness.
His play Drinking Games was selected for both the Adam Playreading Series at Wellington's Downstage Theatre and Auckland Theatre Company's Final Draft programme, and later premiered at Circa Theatre.
He is the Director of the International Institute of Modern Letters at Victoria University.
