Dan Bain

Dan has worked as an improviser, actor, motivational speaker, street performer, theatre director and stand-up comedian since graduating from CircoArts, the New Zealand circus school, in 2001.

He’s starting to get the hang of it.

Dan works as a writer for theatre, film and radio. Noted works include the silent children’s shows A Paintbox of Clowns, Why are my Parents so Boring? and his (again, silent) interpretation of Hansel and Gretel.

For the adult theatre, his works include the Young and Hungry commission Gameplan and the comedy Stag Weekend (with Brendon Bennetts).

He won two of six places in Radio New Zealand’s 2011 ‘New Shorts’ radio play competition with Drones and Forbidden Birds Embarrased Bees.

Dan was appointed Associate Director of The Court Theatre in 2017.
