Cassandra Tse is a playwright, director and performer based in Wellington. She is the co-winner of the 2015 Playwrights b4 25 competition for Long Ago, Long Ago, and was also previously shortlisted in that competition for M'Lady (2017) and Right Dishonourable (2013, Highly Commended). Her play Under was commended in the PANNZ Long PLay Award competition in 2017 and shortlisted for ATC's Next Stage. Long Ago, Long Ago was also nominated for Outstanding New NZ Play at the Wellington Theatre Awards in 2015, and she was nominated for Outstanding New Playwright at the same ceremony.
Cassandra is the artistic director of Red Scare Theatre Company, with whom she has produced many of her own works as well as the New Zealand premiere of Yellow Face by David Henry Hwang (2017). Red Scare was nominated for Most Promising Newcomer for their 2017 body of work at the Wellington Theatre Awards. She has also been a member of the Wellington Footlights Society since its inception in 2014, and continues to perform and direct work with this company.
She is an honours graduate of the Victoria University of Wellington theatre programme.
