On the Island of Sirens we meet a large collection of women from Greek mythology who have come here to escape the predations of gods and men. Soon hostilities brew between minor goddesses, mortal women, and female monsters, as new refugees continue to arrive. Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite are summoned by the Goddess of Discord, and compete for attention. The women on the island band together to diffuse the situation and offer the goddesses refuge when they need it. The play closes with the arrival of a request from new female refugees as well as men and male monsters, wanting to flee the gods.
