An adaptation of the Katherine Mansfield story.
The excitement of preparations is interrupted as the caterer arrives to report on the tragic death of a neighbour from one of the poor houses on the other side of the road. Kezia is sympathetic and suggests that the Garden Party should be cancelled but her mother talks her out of it. At the conclusion the mother suggests that Kezia should take the enormous plate of left over sandwiches down to the grieving family. She sets off in the gathering gloom to an experience that is both frightening and inspiring.
