Ports of Auckland

On the Auckland waterfront we meet a group of striking watersiders and their supporters.  We meet a contingent from Mangere: Mrs Fa’amasino, her son Jermaine, her niece Honey, the straddle driver Summer Clearance. We meet a crowd of westies from Lincoln Rd: Scruff Scully and his daughters Shakayla and Denise, the latter a Labour MP.  Organising them is union secretary Des Fahey, and policing them is Senior Sgt Dave Hogg, son of a wharfie family. And gradually we come to know the former priest Thomas Reedy.
