Esther and Desmond are residents of an Auckland old age home, who are in love. As Esther is in the stages of dementia, there is concern about the relationship on the part of the head nurse and Esther’s daughter, a self-serving MP who seems primarily concerned with preserving her own reputation and getting hold of her mother’s assets. In the end, those conspiring to separate Esther and Desmond win by planning to move Desmond to another home but Esther has the last laugh by drafting a new will without her daughter’s knowledge.
