Goldie: A Good Joke

The rise and fall of celebrated 19th Century portrait painter, Goldie. Though at cross purposes with his Māori subjects and suspected of cheating, he becomes rich and famous. Patara, both King and Fool to Goldie, challenges, teaches and torments him. Goldie reverts to using white lead in an act of despair and self destruction. He ends his life as a pitiful figure, locked in madness.
