David Hill

David Hill is a journalist, reviewer, fiction writer, children's writer and playwright who lives and writes in New Plymouth. He was a high school teacher for fourteen years in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom before turning to full-time writing. David has published more than 50 titles over four decades and is one of New Zealand's most prolific authors for children and young adults. David is the author of a number of critically acclaimed picture books with illustrator Phoebe Morris. He also writes adult fiction and is a reviewer for various publications.

In 2004 David was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit and in 2005 he was awarded the Storylines Margaret Mahy Medal, acknowledging his significant contribution to children's literature in New Zealand. In 2021 David was a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Literary Achievement.
