In Happytown, everyone is always happy and no one is ever unhappy. Every citizen sports a big bright smile everywhere they go and they all believe that their life struggles are destined to end happily ever after. However, things are not as they seem on the surface. When a humble jam seller begins to question the very premise of his world following the unprovoked disappearance of his most loyal and predictable customer, it triggers a massive personal crisis. Overwhelmed by his sudden and wayward feelings of unhappiness and doubt, the jam seller’s unlawful actions threaten to engulf the whole of society and bring him and his unwitting followers into direct confrontation with the Happytown authorities.
This is an absurdist dystopian black comedy suitable for large and expandable casts.
