Elaine is an acerbic, out of work journalist down on her luck. She has been married to Thomas for years but it was a match made in hell and they separated two years ago after a shoot-out. Now Elaine decides to go back to the family home only to discover Thomas has moved his much younger girlfriend in. Elaine is devastated when she learns that they have a baby. She sets about dividing the home into two and installs an invisible Checkpoint Charlie past which no-one must venture. Through a woman Elaine brings home from the street, the fragments of a broken marriage and the raw truth are revealed. Who gets to claim the house?
