Jim

An adaptation of Joseph Conrad’s Lord Jim. Late 19th century. Jim dreams of a heroic life at sea. Fatefully, in a storm, on a crippled ship, he abandons his responsibilities. Horrified at what he’s done, he presents himself to account, is condemned and must now find a way to live out the rest of his life under this shadow. He finally finds a form of tragic atonement in the distant islands of New Zealand. The story is told to us by Marlo, a young American woman who meets with Jim in Karachi and finds herself falling for him.
