Ivory Heart

Jeanne and Choi met when they were eleven. Choi was an immigrant from China, while Jeanne was born in New Zealand to parents of European descent whose ancestors were colonialists in Africa. She was taken to stay at her grandmother’s house in Africa for holidays when she was a child. Their music teacher put them together to duet at recitals.

As Choi and Jeanne grow, so do their musical talents and their love for each other. Unfortunately they are separated when Choi graduates with an engineering degree and is ordered to work for his uncle’s road construction company in Africa.

Jeanne, who is pregnant with Choi’s child, decides that she wishes to travel to Africa to live in her grandmother’s deserted home with Choi, rekindle the memories of her childhood, and join the fight to save elephants from being poached for their ivory. Jeanne meets Herman, who drives her to the vicinity of her grandmother’s house. It is revealed that Choi has been using the house to store a large haul of ivory that he intends to smuggle to Hong Kong and China for his uncle. Choi shoots Herman. On Herman’s urging, Jeanne leaves for the house that she then torches with the ivory stash inside.
