Mike specialises in comedy. He tried a dramatic work, largely autobiographical, once and decided on the spot he would never inflict that on an audience again. He was also mortified later to be told by a dramaturg that "making people laugh is not a socially-redeeming quality" and has made it his life mission to prove the dramaturg wrong.
Mike is the winner of the 1986 Shell One Act Play Festival, with his play Biggles Flies Undone.
He lives in the Bay of Islands and is a full-time writer.
