The White Mouse

ANZAC Heroine Nancy Wake was Hitler’s most wanted woman. He called her The White Mouse as he could never catch her. After witnessing atrocities performed on Jewish people in Vienna she determined to fight the Germans. Firstly she couriered ‘downed’ British Airmen and Jewish Refugees to the Pyrenees from where they were taken to safe houses to Spain and then to England. She then trained in the Special Operations Executive in Scotland in the use of weaponry, espionage and sabotage. On completion of this training she was parachuted back into France to inform England where bombers should drop whatever was needed to support France. She trained and led of thousands of men in The Resistance. Nancy lived life to the full - “When we weren’t fighting we were drinking’! One of her captains said that when she was fighting ‘she fought like five men’.
