Papakura Military Camp, 1942: Simi Tama and Ioane are three adventure-hungry lads who have almost completed basic training and are ready to ship out. Being Pacific Islanders, they are bound for D "Ngati Walkabout" Company, 28th (Maori) Battalion in North Africa. Their dreams of “travelling the world and killing Nazis” collide with the arrival of Ete, a battle-hardened Niue soldier whose experience and scars will show the lads the harsh and unforgiving realities of war.
