Playwrights Pip and Roger Hall, doing research for "Who Needs Sleep Anyway?"
Playmarket provides assistance to the New Zealand playwright through a raft of services.
This drawdown menu provides information on a range of services. If you are submitting a script it needs to be either through our script assessment service or to meet a deadline for one of the number of events (competitions, reading series, conferences) that we run. Alternately we provide assistance to playwrights and their plays through readings, workshops and script labs as part of our National Script Development Programme.
To access these services we ask you join as a Playwright Member (NB a Playmarket Member is not the same thing as a Playmarket Client).
Our script assessment service gives plays a thorough written appraisal and assesses their professional potential. This is a good first step for playwrights seeking script advice and allows us to assess your potential.
Email (scripts@playmarket.org.nz) to receive monthly eBulletins keeping you in touch with news, competitions, articles and opportunities. Become a member and receive our magazine Playmarket News - the essential companion to new NZ theatre.
We offer competitions, playreadings, masterclasses and major events nationally every year for plays and playwrights in development. See Opportunities and the ebulletin for more details.
Our work is assisting playwrights. Phone (04 3828463 x2) or email (scripts@playmarket.org.nz) Script Development Coordinators Jean Betts and Janie Walker with any queries.
