Joy Cowley

Joy Cowley is an established fiction writer who has also written many successful books for children.
Joy has two writing desks. With her husband she now lives in Wellington, New Zealand, in an apartment near the railway station; but they still have a cottage in the Marlborough Sounds where they lived for many years.

She sees herself as wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. This is who she is; writing is what she does, and she has been writing for as long as she can remember. Her writing for children began with an after-school job in 1953 when she was 16, editing the children's page of The Manawatu Daily Times.

Joy Cowley

These are two versions of this lively show from Joy Cowley stories. The junior version (for 5-8 year olds) has a scary story about a horrible thing with hairy feet, a sad story about the death of a bantam hen, a silly story about a pet tiger and a serious story about an armadillo.
