After spending 10 years working as an actor, writer, director and administrator in theatre, film, television and radio Paratene (Nga Puhi) was awarded Robert Burns Writing Fellowship in 1983. Since then he has been based in his native Hokianga where he has been working as a freelance dramatist - mainly for film and television.
