Delahunty, Sarah
Sarah Delahunty decided at an early age to become a world famous actress. In her distant youth she acted at Downstage Theatre, the Court and the Fortune before finishing up very slightly famous in the television soap, Close to Home. After turning her attention to having children, she wrote of the motherhood experience in Stretchmarks (1984) which was performed in various parts of New Zealand.

Since that time Sarah has been teaching, directing and writing, mostly for young people. She has tutored at all levels for the Wellington Performing Arts Centre, ran Gecko Children's Theatre and the I Spy Children's Theatre for 4 - 8 year olds and is now part of 1st Gear Productions which focusses on working with young actors and audiences.

She has written and directed plays for the 2005 and 2006 Wellington Fringe Festivals and is preparing a production for 2008. She also wrote and directed two seasons of Playstory - a storytelling and performance series for children at Downstage Theatre.

In the last three years, two of her plays have toured New Zealand secondary schools - Driving U Crazy, about driving safety for teenagers and - Another Planet - covering issues around healthy and unhealthy relationships.
