The Live Screenplay Competition is a Play Press/Playmarket partnership to find the Best Unfilmed Screenplay. The winner will be given a professional public rehearsed reading in a theatre venue in Wellington, followed by time with a script advisor to help you with your new draft and, if needed, professional advice.
While the primary aim is to encourage screenwriters and to present your screenplay as faithfully as possible, there is also a secret agenda - to introduce a new audience to the potential of the stage as a way to share ideas - and to discover new theatre writing talent.
2009's winner was FUN RIDE, by Benedict Reid, which had an excellent public reading in Circa 2 at 11am on 28th November, 2009, directed by Murray Lynch and with a great cast : - Kate Prior, Vaughan Slinn, Richard Falkner, Gavin Rutherford, Nick Blake, Amy Tarleton, Toby Leach, Ban Abdul and Kate McGill.
The next deadline for submissions is January 31st 2011.
