SHORT PLAY FESTIVAL LIST

The Samuel French Off Off Short Play Festival
is Manhattan's longest-running short play festival, but accepts entries from all over the globe.  Initial submissions are narrowed down to forty Finalists, who are invited to stage productions of their work in front of a panel of judges (an artistic director, a professional playwright, and a literary agent) in a week-long Festival.  Five days of performances lead to a day of finals, where six authors are chosen to be published in a volume by Samuel French.

Past collections of winners can be found on the Samuel French website, the most recent is here:

We accept short plays (10 min) as well as one-acts and full length plays for our 4th Annual New Play Festival Northern Writes, which will run June 21-July 3, 2010.  PTC will announce festival guidelines on November 1st and submissions will be accepted until February 14, 2010.
Take a look at the Festival page for information about the works accepted in the 2008-2009 season: <http://www.penobscottheatre.org/northernwrites.html>

PlayGround in the San Francisco Bay Area works primarily with short (10 minute) plays. Topics are provided monthly to a pool of 36 pre-selected writers and they have 5 days to write short pieces. Of those submitted, 6 are selected each month to be put up as staged readings on a Monday Night at Berkeley Rep. At the end of the season 7 of these short plays are selected to be fully produced in the yearly Best of PlayGround festival in San
Francisco.
