KANOHI TE KANOHI

A hui is being called for the Tāmaki Makaurau Māori Theatre community to gather kanohi ki te kanohi. The aim of this hui is to enhance the Auckland Māori Theatre community by setting out a plan for 2015 and seeking ways to become more co-ordinated, efficient and effective as a community and whānau. Bring a plate of kai as koha. Nāku te rourou nāu te rourou ka ora ai te iwi.

RALPH McCUBBIN HOWELL WINS THE 2014 BRUCE MASON PLAYWRITING AWARD

The Bruce Mason Playwriting Award was presented to Ralph McCubbin Howell at the Playmarket Accolades in Wellington on 23 November 2014.

The $10,000 cash prize recognises early success in the career of the winning playwright and is designed to encourage their continued exploration of the theatre medium.

SHORTLAND STREET WRITERS' MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME

Shortland Street is looking to increase its writing team, specifically dialogue writers.
There is a new 13-week mentorship programme, in Auckland, where new writers can learn the craft of writing for a serial drama and hopefully achieve sufficient success to earn a regular place on the Shortland Street roster. There will be some remuneration for the 13 weeks.

Remembering Elizabeth O'Connor

We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Elizabeth O'Connor who was Literary Manager at The Court Theatre. Elizabeth was a major lover of new writing and totally devoted to theatre. She worked closely with many playwrights and was instrumental in finding premieres for their work. We send our condolences to her family, co-workers and friends.
