Tu'u, Louise

Louise is a playwright, actor and director. Her play, Le Tauvaga (The Competition) premiered in three Auckland community centres, directly targeting Pacific Island teenagers and shunning the traditional installation of a theatrical performance in a theatrical setting.

In 2005, Louise was the first New Zealand or Pacific Island playwright to be awarded the Royal Court International Theatre Residency in London. As a result of this, her play, Imakulata was workshopped and presented in the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs.

She has also written and directed a number of short films and presented her most recent play Providence exclusively for the homeless community in central Auckland. Louise also initiated the community walk/dance off production To Fergusson with Love in Oranga, Auckland, 2009.
