Director: Murray Lynch
As Director, Murray has overall responsibility for Playmarket, including the Script Development Programme and the Agency. He is employed by and reports to the Executive. Murray has worked at nearly every major professional theatre in New Zealand since he began his career at Four Seasons Theatre in Whanganui in 1973. He has worked as Artistic Director of Centrepoint Theatre, Associate Director at Theatre Corporate. and Artistic Director of the Maidment Arts Centre, founding director of Tantrum Theatre Company, Associate Director at Downstage Theatre and then headed the Acting and Directing Programmes at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School until his appointment as Director of Downstage in 2000, a position he held for six years. In 2007 he graduated with a Masters in Theatre (with distinction) from Victoria University. Murray

Script Development Coordinator: Jean Betts
Jean has worked in theatre here and away for many years as actor, director, producer, play publisher and playwright, so has a keen understanding of all the obstacles a playwright is likely to encounter and the resources they are likely to need. She coordinates all script development programmes and is available to advise playwrights on a wide range of issues.

Office Manager: Pania Stevenson
Pania is your first point of contact. She is responsible for all initial enquiries and the day-to-day running of the office as parts of which she manages our Playmarket membership program and our Bookshop. Pania also handles the financial ins and outs, invoices and payments as well as sponsorship for Playmarket’s various programmes and awards.
