Memberships

We need your support! By becoming a playwright member* you will help sustain a national arts organisation committed to excellence in New Zealand playwriting and theatre. We are at the heart of New Zealand theatre. Our focus is the development and production of New Zealand plays on stage.

To access our services and support the organisation we ask that you join us either as a supporter or apply to be a playwright member. For more information click on the links in the last sentence.

NB: To be eligible to be a Playwright member you must be able to provide us by email, mail or in person with an example of your playwriting work (at whatever stage).

*Please note that playwright membership is not the same thing as becoming a Playmarket Client, and does not include agency representation.

Client Status 

Playmarket represents over 300 playwrights, including New Zealand’s most successful and popular.

As a playwrights’ agency we are in close contact with independent producers, theatre venues and festivals both here and worldwide.

To become a Playmarket client you need to be invited to do so by the director. If you are interested, are a New Zealand citizen or resident, have had professional productions and feel you may be eligible, please enquire; director@playmarket.org.nz.

•    Promotion and circulation of your scripts to potential directors and producers both here and overseas
•    Monitoring the collection and distribution of royalty payments
•    Negotiation of all contracts and commissions
•    Troubleshooting; support and advocacy during production
•    Copyright advice
•    Collection of scripts, biographies and production information
•    Priority eligibility for script development, publication, conferences and special events
